Rachakram Golf Club
About
Value for money links-style course around 1.5 hours from Bangkok
Designed by renowned Thai golf architect Sukitt Klangvisai, who also designed Phuket Country Club, Rachakram Golf Club boasts a remarkable array of memorable holes at an affordable price, making the long trip from Bangkok well worth it. The course isn't too busy either, so you can keep up a good pace of play as you enjoy the attractive surroundings.
Resembling a links course, the fairways at Rachakram Golf Club have undulations and open spaces, which allow shots to run up to the greens. Most of the holes are tree-lined, providing an added challenge as the trees mature. The greens are firm and fast but receptive to holding approach shots with long irons and woods. The bunker sand is also of a nice firm texture, enabling good spin on bunker shots.
The course has an excellent variety of holes in terms of length and design. There is only one par-3 where you won’t be reaching for a wood or even a rescue club, and the par 5s are all fairly daunting, and when playing into the wind reaching the green in two is a task of Dustin Johnson-sized proportions.
There are plenty of water hazards, including some blind ones. The tenth hole, a dogleg par-4 with a carry over water to a large green with a false front, and the twelfth hole, a long par-5 into the prevailing wind, are the most scenic holes.
The Rachakram clubhouse is modern, with large, clean changing and shower facilities. The restaurant has a beautiful view over the course, especially at night when the course is floodlit. Other facilities include a driving range, two short game areas, and two putting areas.
Although the drive from Bangkok is slightly longer than for other Bangkok golf courses, the brisk playing speed makes the overall elapsed time quite reasonable. The low green fees at Rachakram make it a great value-for-money option on any Bangkok golf holiday.
Reviews
Not enjoyed to play there
We played after a 5-day golf academy hosted by a Korean professional golfer so we expected a good condition but even with not so many players, we had to wait for a long time to play each and every single hole / I would not visit this golf course again since it is not so close to Bangkok and I would rather drive a bit more to Ayuthaya to play the better coursesBetter than we expected and excellent value
A well maintained and managed course with fast greens, many of which are well protected by sand or water hazards. Good value for money and the staff were very friendly although their English ability was limited.Course Info
