The Pomelo Golf Club (Old Course)
About
Newly revamped under new ownership, this 18-hole parkland course is a clear step up from it's former guise
Established in 1993 as Krisadanokorn City Golf, this Bob McFarland design has undergone a transformation under new ownership and is now known as Pomelo Golf Club. While the layout remains unchanged—featuring narrow fairways and large, shady trees that create a challenging yet picturesque setting—the course has been upgraded with new turf and revamped greens while the clubhouse has been extensively upgraded. Established in 1994 and designed by renowned American architect Bob McFarland, The Pomelo Golf Club Old Course is one of Nakornchaisri’s oldest and most iconic courses. This 18-hole, par-72 course offers a challenging layout surrounded by natural beauty.
On the course, the emphasis is firmly on enjoyment rather than examination. Tee boxes are in reasonable shape, fairways are wide, flat, and forgiving, and water hazards add interest without feeling overly punishing. Greens run on the slow side, which makes putting fairly straightforward.
There are few doglegs or forced carries, and the challenge level stays modest throughout. What it lacks in difficulty, it makes up for in flow and atmosphere, helped along by frequent halfway huts and a generally tidy presentation. This is a course designed for groups to play, chat, and enjoy themselves, not to grind out a scorecard.
The layout is friendly and welcoming, particularly for mixed-ability groups or newer golfers. Halfway huts are plentiful, drinks are well-priced, and service is consistently attentive. The overall mood is relaxed and fun, making it a good fit for after-work rounds or corporate groups.
If you’re looking for night golf, group energy, and a course that leans into golf as a social experience, Pomelo delivers. If you’re hunting for a stern strategic test with quick greens, this isn’t it. The appeal here is accessibility, atmosphere, and ease.
The clubhouse is a genuine upgrade, with thoughtful amenities and a premium feel—including welcome touches like complimentary shoe cleaning. The overall tone is deliberately social and upbeat rather than hushed and traditional. That spirit shows up in the way the club presents its caddie services too, offering both standard caddies and a more theatrical “pretty” caddie option. The service is friendly and attentive.
A clear step forward from its former incarnation and an easy recommendation for social play, corporate outings, and newer golfers. Not the toughest course in the area, but one of the easiest to enjoy.
