Excellent Nick Faldo design with 5-star facilities
Located in Pathum Thani to the North of Bangkok and one of the few Nick Faldo-designed courses in Thailand, Flora Ville Golf & Country Club is set inside a large housing estate dotted with majestic trees, open marsh areas, and an abundance of wildlife. With the well-maintained fairways alternately bordered by trees or water, plus a fair few doglegs to deal with, it's a course that place a premium on accuracy off the tee, especially if you want a shot at finding the small greens in regulation.
The hard surface of the putting greens makes it difficult to keep your approach from finding the fringe or worse, so get ready to test your up-and-down game. With putts running at lightning speed, it's welcome that the greens are largely flat.
It's especially tough to find the putting surface at the par-3 6th, which features water in front and deep bunkers beyond, while the short par-5 12 presents similar issues on approach. With water running the entire length of the fairway, two accurate blows are needed to put yourself in position to navigate the dogleg towards a green protected by more water.
The signature 18th is a long par 5 with a small landing area. As the hole snakes to the left, you must thread your way between bunkers on both sides before carrying the water that fronts the green. Given the difficulty of holding the green with a mid-iron, a layup and a scramble for par is often the best option.
Away from the course, the clubhouse and facilities at Flora Ville Golf and Country Club were completed rebuilt in 2018. Visitors a treated to a modern clubhouse boasting luxurious locker rooms, a pro shop and restaurant. Additional facilities include a meeting room and sports club, with fitness programs and personal trainers available should you wish to use them.
With its new and improved clubhouse and excellent course, a trip to Flora Ville Golf and Country Club makes for a great choice on any Bangkok golf holiday.
