Popular Nick Faldo design in a central location that's great for night golf
Located just 30 minutes away from Bangkok and very popular as a result, Summit Windmill Golf Club boasts an innovative, artificial design by Nick Faldo, with a substantial amount of earthmoving done to create fake elevation changes and hillside fairways. Despite its artificial attributes, it's ranked as one of the best courses in Bangkok, and the surroundings of the course are also pleasant and park-like, with palm trees lining most fairways and plenty of wildlife such as birds and reptiles.
Water comes into play on many of the holes, starting with an enormous lake hazard that flanks the left side of both long par-5 1st and the the exciting finishing hole. Nick Faldo's often innovative design is further characterized by contoured fairways, large bunker complexes fronting most greens and water-protected par-3s, most notably at the 12th which features an island green.
The par-4 9th is also an excellent risk-reward hole, allowing long hitters to shave off much of the 438 yards by cutting their tee shots across the water, leaving a mid-iron into the green. However, anything short or right will entail hitting over bunkers to the green with a long iron or hybrid, a shot that often winds up in the sand.
The clubhouse at Summit Windmill is one of the most luxurious in Thailand, resembling a European castle. However, the restaurants, locker rooms, and other facilities are nothing special. For those wanting to stay overnight, there is a pricey five-star golf resort on-site, but nothing much happens after 8pm so you're best off staying in Bangkok.
In 2004, lighting was installed, making night golf an option, although you should be aware that mosquitos and other insects can be annoying, especially during the rainy season. Summit Windmill is popular with local members, and good tee times are at a premium, but slow play is often the norm.

Course was immaculate and facilities were great. Caddies were accomodating and we had a fantastic day1st 9 holes greens were undergoing hollow tining which we were not informed before booking.
Other than the hollow tining & topsoil, the rest is great! Caddy is experienced, just the weather was so extremely warm but luckily it was windy! Winter time will be much enjoyable!Course Info
