Challenging and beautiful Pete Dye-designed parkland course
Despite being built on flat, marshy rice fields, the Pete Dye-designed Subhapruek Golf Club has become one of Bangkok's most beautiful courses. With its fairways lined mature palm trees, numerous shaped bunkers and water hazards on almost every hole, it's a real challenge for golfers of all levels, despite measuring only around 6800 yards from the back tees.
The fairways, although appearing narrow from the tee-box, open up nicely around the landing areas. The course is a challenging but fair test of golf, with signature Pete Dye trademarks that even higher handicappers can navigate.
The finishing holes on each nine are particularly notable, with the Par 5 8th doglegging around a lake and the Par 4 9th protected by water on the entire right side. The island green par-3 16th and the tight par-4 17th are the most menacingly closing holes, while the par-4 18th, reminiscent of the TPC at Sawgrass, is one of the prettiest holes in Thailand golf.
The driving range is unique, with floating island targets in the water. The clubhouse is expansive and features a restaurant serving good Asian and Western food, including Chinese Dim Sum and Thai noodle selections. Golfers can enjoy a few cold beers while reflecting on their round.
