Old-school championship course in a convenient location
Once one of the best golf courses in Bangkok but arguably no longer up to the standard of some of the newer courses in the area, Pinehurst Golf & Country Club hosted the 1992 Johnnie Walker Classic and the 1994 Thailand Open. Conveniently located just 15 minutes north of Don Muang Airport, it features wide fairways and flat greens, making it ideal for mid to high handicappers seeking a relaxing game at an easily accessible Bangkok golf course.
The course comprises three nine-hole loops, each with distinct styles. The North Lake Course is similar to many American municipal golf courses, while the South Greenfield nine is very smooth and flat. The West Forest course, which is notably lacking in actual forests, is the most challenging of the three nines, featuring water hazards and mounds off the sides of the fairways.
The West Forest course's 8th hole is a par-3 and boasts one of the largest putting greens in Asia, surrounded by water. There are two tee options, with regular hitters teeing from ground level and longer hitters and professionals teeing from an elevated tee box suspended by concrete columns, which also acts as a "roof" for the lower tee box.
Pinehurst also offers unique VIP golf carts branded with Rolls Royce and night time flood lighting, making it popular among locals and expatriate Asian golfers. The 'night time' caddies, who are also local university students, add to the course's charm, though they may be chosen more for their figure, age, and other services than their on-course abilities.
In addition to a generous clubhouse and on-site local golf resort, Pinehurst has two restaurants. The clubhouse lounge offers a nice view of the golf course, while the main restaurant serves some of the best Japanese and Korean food in Bangkok.
Overall, Pinehurst is a satisfying choice for higher handicappers, though play can be slow at times. Nonetheless, there's an old school charm to the course that makes it a great choice for any Bangkok golf holiday.

Pretty flat course with water bordering most fairways and sometimes in front of the greens. Fairways are reasonable though with well-placed bunkers and the course condition was average Caddies were friendly & very knowledgeable and spoke reasonable English. Course is not too difficult although high handicappers might find the water intimidating. Large clubhouse and comfortable locker room.Slow play and unkept
Too many 6 balls who do not care about pace of play. Most bunkers are not raked as caddies do not rake at all or just run rake over for show. If playing at night expect starters to put folks ahead of you in the queue unless you tip them upfront.Course Info
